How might we make exploring Chicago more convenient and personalized?

The Chicago Architecture Foundation (CAF), the leading cultural organization devoted to celebrating and promoting Chicago as a center of architectural innovation through tours & signature events, have trouble connecting with young, engaged Chicago dwellers. These urban explorers are curious about their city, but they aren’t willing to put in the effort it takes to seek out and participate in structured, traditional, docent-led tours.
The URBAN XPLRR app allows people to do Chicago Architecture Foundation style exploration of the city everyday, whenever they want. The app allows users to customize the time and content of their city exploration while enhancing the tour and exploration experience beyond providing simple information.
This project was developed during my time at The Starter League.

• Geographically-constrained to Chicago
• Singular experience – not necessarily family oriented or a group experience
• Offer free-form and customizable
• Simple layering and filtering of information
• Unique, "CAF-caliber" information
• Unobtrusive experience
